Suman

SUMAN  Ang Suman  ay isang rice cake na nagmula sa Pilipinas. Ito ay gawa sa malagkit na bigas na niluto sa gata ng niyog, kadalasang nakabalot sa dahon ng saging, dahon ng niyog, o dahon ng buli o buri palm. Ito ay kadalasang kinakain na nilalagyan ng asukal o ng latik. Ang suman ay maaring gumamit ng kamoteng kahoy sa halip na malagkit na bigas. Mga Uri ng Suman: 1.  Binuo (o Suman sa Binuo) – Isang bihirang uri ng suman, ang malagkit na bigas ay binabad, giniling, hinahalo sa gata ng niyog at asukal, binalot sa dahon ng saging  at pinapasingaw.  2. Kurukod o kurukud - Isang uri ng kamoteng kahoy na suman na may palaman ng matamis na gadgad na niyog. 3. Suman sa Ibus (o simpleng Ibus) – Isang variety ng suman sa Pilipinas, ang malagkit na bigas ay hinuhugasan, at pagkatapos ay hinahalo sa asin at gata ng niyog. Ang timpla ay ibinubuhos sa mga paunang ginawang lalagyan ng mga batang dahon ng palma na tinatawag na Ibus o Ibos, at iniayos sa gitnang baras ng dahon. Pagkata

Because of lockdowns and the closing down of transport systems, people are forced to stay in their houses and cannot go out to earn. Maybe middle-class families can manage under these restrictions, but the urban poor who live day-to-day are suffering – especially when it comes to food.
